Mounting-Hole Pattern Location on Precision Cast Components

Relia reviews precision-cast components with machined mounting-hole patterns against the same references used in your assembly. Define each hole size and the pattern’s location and orientation; a correct diameter alone does not establish where the hole belongs.

Agreed component references
Size + location + relationship

Hole limits, datum references and the pattern requirement belong to one controlled drawing.

Schematic only; the actual pattern comes from your component.

Relia reviews cast stock, machining and inspection around those references before sample approval.

A Hole Pattern Measured as a Related Feature Set

Relia connects the finished mounting holes to the locating surfaces and mating component. Separate hole readings are combined with the drawing's location and relationship requirements.

Assembly references

Show the contacts that locate the part in use.

Machining references

Define how the pattern is established.

Inspection references

Evaluate the specified pattern against the same drawing.

The Mating Assembly and Locating Datums

Include the mating-hole arrangement, fastener or locating-pin requirements and the surfaces that establish the component's position. Mark any assembly clearance or orientation requirement.

Use the controlled drawing's datum system where specified. A convenient cast edge is not automatically the reference used by the final assembly.

Hole Size and Hole Location Are Different Requirements

Size

The specified diameter and its limits for the individual hole.

Location and relationship

The pattern's position and orientation relative to the drawing references.

Specify the actual dimensional or geometric requirements used by your design. Do not replace them with an assumed general precision claim.

Define the role of any assembly gauge

If a gauge or mating component is part of acceptance, agree its identity, requirements and interpretation. Keep that check connected to the drawing and any separately required measurement record.

Casting Stock Around the Mounting Features

Show the finished holes and mounting contacts over the proposed casting blank. Retain the local material required around bosses, ears and edges after machining.

Review the first-operation locating method before the final references exist. This connects the as-cast shape to the finished pattern rather than treating the hole positions in isolation.

Machining the Pattern from Agreed References

Locate

Establish the agreed component reference.

Support

Hold the part without losing the required geometry.

Finish

Produce the pattern and local edges in the specified condition.

Agree any treatment or coating condition affecting the final interface. The machining and inspection plan should address the delivered state.

Inspection of the Finished Pattern

Identify the drawing features, reference setup and selected measurement method. Review hole sizes and the pattern relationship as specified, with results linked to the sample and revision.

Relia can provide agreed key dimensional records. The measured characteristics and sampling frequency are defined per order.

Bracket and Mounting Plate References

Slotted mounts, eye-ended plates, pin brackets and mounting discs present different locating situations. Use the selected drawing to define the actual pattern and material requirement.

Approved requirement

Freeze the pattern, references and supplied condition.

Approved evidence

Record the sample measurements and any agreed assembly check.

Customer approval precedes batch production. Later mating-part or pattern changes return to the same controlled review.
