Comparable Lost-Foam and Vacuum-Process Plate Quotations

To compare lost-foam and vacuum-process iron-plate prices, give Relia one controlled drawing, grade and finished-part requirement. We first review which proposals are feasible. Then compare tooling, recurring work and inspection coverage on the same delivery basis.

Lost-foam proposal

Expendable pattern, process development and recurring pattern scope.

ONE CONTROLLED DRAWING
Vacuum-process proposal

Pattern, film-based vacuum molding and specified finishing scope.

Relia reviews the actual component before confirming which alternatives can be quoted.

Two Explicit Alternatives for One Component Brief

Relia keeps each proposed route identifiable. A catalogue listing that mentions sand, lost foam and vacuum casting is a starting point for enquiries, not a combined manufacturing instruction.

Common input

One drawing revision, material and order quantity.

Separate route

Explicit tooling, mold preparation and casting proposal.

Common output

The same defined interfaces and acceptance condition.

03 / 10 · Quotation baseline

The Same Grade, Drawing and Quantity

State the material standard and grade, plate dimensions, local sections and expected releases. Mark machined mounting contacts, appearance zones and the condition required at delivery.

Keep exclusions visible. A cast blank price cannot be compared directly with a machined and inspected plate price.

Broad shallow plate with raised bosses and perimeter fixing ears
Bosses, edges and finished contacts belong to the same quotation baseline.

04 / 10 · Expendable-pattern alternative

Lost-Foam Pattern and Tooling Scope

Development

Identify how the pattern geometry is established, joined and approved.

Recurring production

State the expendable-pattern work included in each production release.

The foam pattern is consumed during casting. Identify pattern tooling, coating, handling and the relevant local geometry in the actual proposal.

Rectangular equipment panel with large window, slot and round openings
A windowed panel adds openings and edge sections to the route review.

05 / 10 · Vacuum-held sand mold alternative

Vacuum-Process Mold and Pattern Scope

In V-process molding, plastic film and vacuum maintain the shape of a dry sand mold. This differs from an expendable foam pattern occupying the intended casting volume.

Ask the proposal to identify its actual pattern and mold arrangement, any cores, local allowances and release requirements. Do not infer a machine model or production capacity from the process name.

Machining Stock and Surface Requirements

Local stock

Show the casting envelope around each machined face and hole.

Remaining sections

Protect the required wall and edge material after finishing.

Surface zones

Separate functional finish from general cast appearance.

Compare the final dimensional requirement rather than assume either route eliminates machining. Any proposed geometry change needs approval.

07 / 10 · Equal acceptance

Evidence Needed to Accept Either Proposal

Use the same critical-feature list, material condition and required inspection records. Specify the sample state and the checks performed before customer approval.

Relia agrees key dimensional records and sampling frequency per order. A difference in inspection coverage must remain visible in the comparison.

Open C-shaped plate with curved recesses
An open plate needs its own section, opening and contact requirements.
Notched open plate with scalloped perimeter and central opening
Different open profiles make local geometry more useful than a general process label.
