Custom Cast, Forged and Machined Components in One BOM Enquiry

You can ask Relia to review cast, forged and machined components within one controlled BOM. Each item keeps its own drawing, material, route and acceptance requirements, while the shared assembly identifies the mating relationships. This helps your purchasing team coordinate connected parts without assuming that one sample, process description or test result qualifies every component in the order.
Read the overview and page sections
We group the parts by forming route, material and assembly interface, then identify the operations needed to reach their supplied condition. This gives your project a coordinated review without hiding unresolved items inside a single combined price.
One Project Review Keeps Individual Part Requirements Visible
Relia separates item-level manufacturing from the relationships between the items. A cast housing, forged connector and machined sleeve may need different starting materials and operations, even when they belong to one equipment project. We keep the quoted scope and sample requirements attached to each line, then use the assembly references to identify interfaces that need coordination.

Assign a Manufacturing Boundary to Every BOM Line
Avoid using one process menu for all components. A forged link, cast body and machined sleeve can have different material, tooling and inspection needs.
| Component route | Define on the enquiry | Acceptance reference |
|---|---|---|
| Cast item | Cast grade, blank envelope and finished contacts | Casting and final-part drawing |
| Forged item | Alloy, condition, die features and machining | Forging and finished requirements |
| Machined item | Starting stock and supplied condition | Operation scope and final drawing |
| Companion hardware | Separate part codes and quantities | Included contents and relevant specification |
Assign Forming and Finishing Operations by Component
A hollow housing may call for a casting route with core or shell access, while a solid loaded connector may need a forging review.

Choose the forming route by component
A fitting can require turning, drilling or milling after its blank is formed. Route selection follows the geometry and required material condition of each line rather than the broad description of the assembly.
Connect the finishing requirements where parts meet
Relia's coordination discussion connects the finishing steps where parts meet: a bore and shaft, two mounting faces or a repeated bolt pattern. Compare the related drawing references before agreeing separate tooling. A common delivery can then retain individual part identity and acceptance, so progress on one item does not imply approval of the whole BOM.
Coordinate Mating Features Across Different Manufacturing Routes
Start with the assembly's actual contacts: a shaft entering a sleeve, a pin crossing paired lugs, or a bracket sitting on a machined face. Assign the required size, location and condition to the appropriate component drawing. A shared assembly function does not mean that both parts use the same manufacturing datum or material.
Relia reviews where a route change could affect the adjoining item. Casting stock, forging cleanup, final turning and any surface treatment must leave the specified mating condition. Agree component checks and any separate assembly check before approving the order, with each sample identity and supplied quantity remaining attached to its BOM line.

Bring the Project Together at the Handoffs
The shared project should simplify communication while leaving the interfaces and responsibility of each component visible.
| Handoff | Coordination focus | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Technical pack | One controlled reference per line | BOM with drawing links |
| Quote review | Included route, finishing and records | Comparable line-item scope |
| Approval | Sample or first-article status per component | An explicit release list |
| Delivery | Quantity, identity and protection per pack | Shipment list connected to the BOM |
Qualification Progress Is Tracked Per Item
One component may be ready for repeat supply while another remains at sample review. Keep that status visible instead of declaring the entire BOM approved after one successful trial. Record changes against the affected item and identify any impact on mating parts or the complete assembly.
- Each BOM line
- Part code, revision, quantity and supplied condition
- Each sample
- Actual identity, agreed checks and approval state
- Each change
- Affected item and any mating-item impact
Combined Delivery Keeps Item Identity Intact
Agree whether components ship together or separately and how each quantity and record package is identified. Different materials and finished surfaces may require different protection. Shared shipment coordination does not remove the need for line-item acceptance at receipt.
