Confidential Drawings and Controlled Project Files
Start your casting or CNC enquiry with a limited brief: the component family, material and manufacturing task. Agree the applicable confidentiality arrangement before sharing sensitive drawings or samples. Relia then reviews an identified file set so geometry, requirements and the authorised revision stay connected. The original NDA reference remains available below.
Discuss your component
- BeginDescribe the manufacturing task with limited detail.
- ArrangeIdentify the files and applicable confidentiality agreement.
- ReleaseKeep technical review separate from production approval.
An Initial Discussion Can Use a Limited Brief
Relia can start with the part type, material, approximate envelope, order pattern and the operation you need. A housing enquiry may concern a cast blank, a sealing interface or an inaccessible passage; that distinction helps identify which drawings are needed next. Agree the applicable confidentiality arrangement before exchanging sensitive design detail.
- ComponentFamily, material and manufacturing need.
- BoundaryInformation needed for the next technical step.
- AgreementThe project arrangement governing the exchange.
The Model and Drawing Carry Different Requirements
A model explains the outside and internal geometry. A drawing adds units, tolerances, material, finish and acceptance references. A sample can add wear, repair or manufacturing features that need interpretation. Identify the controlling reference set so comments about a recess, bore or wall transition are applied to the correct design.

- ModelGeometry and internal sections.
- DrawingMaterial, limits and functional datums.
- SampleAn identified physical reference with known condition.
A File Register Keeps the Review Understandable
Give each drawing, model and sample reference a part number and revision. When a new file replaces an older one, state what changed and which version controls the quotation. A short file register can record the filename, revision, units and intended purpose. This reduces the risk of machining from a current model while inspecting against a superseded drawing.
Name the replaced version, list the changed features and state whether the new file is for review or authorised production. A manufacturing suggestion is not customer approval of a design change.
Manufacturing Comments Belong to Named Features
A foundry comment may concern the withdrawal direction, a thick junction or core removal. A CNC comment may concern cutter reach, fixture support or the first datum. Refer to the affected feature and revision when exchanging these notes. A feasibility suggestion can then be evaluated as a specific design decision rather than mistaken for permission to change the part.

- LocateThe section or feature being discussed.
- ExplainThe manufacturing reason for the comment.
- DecideCustomer release of any design change.
A Review File Is Different from a Production Release
Sending geometry for quotation does not by itself define tooling ownership, order quantity or the authorised supplied condition. Keep those decisions in the applicable commercial and technical project documents. Relia’s manufacturing review distinguishes an assumption awaiting resolution from a drawing or sample you have approved for production.
- ReviewEvaluate geometry and proposed operations.
- AgreeResolve quotation assumptions and supply scope.
- AuthoriseRelease the actual drawing and production order.
Sample References Stay Attached to the Approved Version
A hinge example can have the same outline while its pivot clearance, mounting pattern or surface requirement changes. Record which version was reviewed and which sample was approved. If the design changes later, identify the affected tooling, operations and inspection requirements instead of treating the earlier sample as approval of every subsequent version.

- Before trialReleased reference set and sample criteria.
- At approvalIdentified sample and applicable results.
- After changeAffected-feature review and renewed release where needed.
