Choose the actual grey-iron or aluminum motor component before defining an OEM casting request. These material families represent separate design decisions; sand and die casting also require individual feasibility review rather than a single assumed process for every car motor part.
Relate the casting to its motor assembly
Identify the required component and provide the mating geometry from the intended vehicle or motor project. Locate working faces, bores or mounting details from functional references, including only the features required by the actual drawing. A general motor-parts designation does not verify replacement fit or a completed operating assembly.
Specify the metal and proposed blank route
State the grade, material standard and required condition for the selected part. Show cast sections and surfaces needing machining, with allowances appropriate to the proposed blank. Evaluate sand or die casting for that material and design; neither the two route names nor surface appearance establishes process history or chemistry.
- Identify the car motor casting and mating drawing.
- Select actual grey iron or aluminum grade.
- Define cast sections and secondary machining stock.
- Specify finish and post-treatment motor interfaces.
- Agree material records and vehicle-duty acceptance.
Inspect the finished motor component
Provide quantities and PDF or CAD drawings with IGES or STEP geometry where available. Mark tolerance units, measurement conditions and any required operating checks. Treatments, tests and certification must apply to the selected alloy, supplier scope and component; general references do not prove universal precision or current approval.
Compare the motor-part proposals using one agreed material, a feasible blank route and the same finished assembly contacts.
