A precision stainless-steel casting request needs a defined component and an actual grade. The historical die-casting description identifies an enquiry direction; it does not by itself establish the manufacturing route for every grade or shape. Keep the drawing and the finished requirements at the centre of the discussion before tooling is selected.

Build the enquiry around the stainless component

Send the component drawing and revision, quantity and material specification. Use dimensions and section views to describe wall transitions, openings and mating interfaces. The listed PDF/CAD and IGES/STEP formats can communicate the design, but the file format does not establish its suitability for a particular casting method.

Review the proposed route before production

Ask for the intended casting and tooling scope for the selected stainless grade. If die casting is required, identify that requirement clearly and obtain a design-specific process proposal. If another route is proposed, compare the resulting supplied condition, machining allowance and inspection requirements against the same drawing. Do not assume that every process in a general catalogue menu is applicable to the part.

  • Name the stainless grade and any required material records.
  • Supply the controlled drawing and requested component quantity.
  • Mark bores, threads, datums and contact faces requiring machining.
  • Assign dimensional limits and measurement criteria to important interfaces.
  • Specify finish, supplied condition and required acceptance documents.

Make precision and suitability measurable

The word precision does not define a numerical tolerance. State the limits for the dimensions that control assembly, explain which references govern their position, and identify whether inspection takes place before or after the chosen finish. Select heat treatment and surface treatment for the actual alloy and application rather than inheriting every listed option.

Automotive, medical-device and robotics references are broad catalogue contexts. A component intended for one of these sectors still needs its own service requirements and applicable qualification evidence. Request current certification only where relevant to the order, with its scope identified. The enquiry should distinguish the raw casting, the machined part and any additional assembly work so that proposals describe the same deliverable.
