Use the finned plate and mounting-flange example to identify the component required for your project. The image shows parallel fins below a broad upper plate, circular openings on that plate and an upright side flange. A custom aluminum extrusion heatsink enquiry should define these interfaces together with the actual material and finished requirements.
Draw the mounting relationships
Locate the plate openings and flange fixing features from the assembly datums. Specify the plate dimensions, flange height and the surfaces that must contact adjoining parts. Include section views where the relationship between the fins, plate and flange cannot be fully described from the outside shape.
Define fin direction, spacing and the installation envelope. Identify the thermal contact face and any clearance needed for the intended airflow arrangement. The photograph supports a discussion of these interfaces, but it does not establish the exact dimensions, alloy condition or a thermal performance result.
Select the profile and machining operations
Agree the actual profile-manufacturing and secondary-machining route for the design. The historical sand-casting and CNC field is a general catalogue reference, not a compulsory process plan for every extrusion-related component. Similarly, a list of machining services does not mean that every operation is included in the supplied part.
Agree the finished contact and acceptance conditions
- Provide the component drawing and revision.
- Specify the actual alloy and condition, including 6063 if required.
- Mark holes, contact faces and flange dimensions for machining.
- Identify the selected anodized finish or other treatment.
- Define final-condition inspection and required quantities.
State which faces require masking, fit control or a particular finish condition. Surface color alone does not prove black anodizing, and a finish name does not establish its thickness or suitability for every contact interface. Supply the heat load, ambient and installation requirements needed for thermal review. Historical ISO9001-2008 wording is not current applicable certification evidence; identify any documentation required for this order. The enquiry should link one drawing, material choice and supplied condition to clear acceptance criteria.
