A custom aluminum heat-sink profile should be selected from a controlled section drawing rather than a catalogue size reference. The examples show finned sections of different lengths, with broad web or mounting areas and several circular openings. The T-profile enquiry direction and 6000-series material family are starting requirements to define for the order.
Set the profile section and cut length
Provide the actual cross-section, length and required quantities. Locate the contact or mounting area relative to the fins and show the holes needed for the assembly. Where more than one length or section is required, identify each item separately instead of assuming that all pictured examples have the same drawing or supplied specification.
Specify the alloy and condition within the required material family. Dimension fin height, spacing and the overall envelope where those features affect fit or installation. The original customized-size and as-your-drawing options do not define fixed dimensions; the controlled drawing should make those requirements explicit.
Select the finish and secondary work
Discuss the extrusion and any secondary operations needed by that design. General service options such as bending, punching or cutting are not instructions to apply every operation to each profile. Where a finish affects contact or assembly, identify masking and dimensional acceptance before the manufacturing scope is agreed.
Relate the profile to its installation
- Identify the section drawing and individual cut lengths.
- Specify the actual alloy and condition required.
- Mark mounting holes and any finished contact surfaces.
- Choose polishing, anodizing, painting or another agreed finish.
- State inspection requirements for the supplied condition.
State the intended heat-sink application, heat load, ambient conditions and the airflow or contact arrangement relevant to selection. The visible fins and material-family label do not establish a measured thermal result. Include adjoining components where they limit clearance or determine fixing. Confirm current quantities and delivery arrangements for the actual drawing. A useful enquiry links one profile and finish selection to clear dimensional and thermal acceptance, while retaining the accurate drawing-based scope of the existing product knowledge.
