Locate the mounting ledge beside the fins
The example has a flat drilled ledge beside upper fins, with another finned area below the base. Dimension the ledge width, hole pattern and full profile envelope together so the mounting and cooling-space requirements can be reviewed.
For a custom extruded aluminum heat sink, provide the section drawing, selected alloy and temper, cut length and the surfaces requiring machining. Specify the treatment of the heat-source contact face and any cosmetic surfaces.
Include installation conditions
Describe the heat-source footprint, mounting arrangement, airflow and thermal design requirement. Add quantities and the drawing revision, identifying critical fit dimensions and inspection points.
